Type of epoxy resin

April 30, 2024
There are many kinds of epoxy resins and there are new varieties. There are also many ways to classify epoxy resins. It is generally divided into five major industries according to its chemical structure and the combination of epoxy groups. This sorting method helps to understand and master the behavior of the epoxy during curing and the properties of the cured product. (1) Glycidyl ethers, (2) glycidyl esters, (3) glycidylamines, (4) aliphatic epoxy compounds, and (5) alicyclic epoxy compounds. In addition, there are hybrid epoxy resins, compounds that have two different types of epoxy groups in their molecular structure. For example: TDE-85 epoxy tree, AFG-90 epoxy resin.

Difunctional epoxy resins and multifunctional epoxy resins can also be divided into functional groups (epoxy groups). For reactive resins, the effect of the number of functional groups is very important.

The state of the resin at room temperature can also be divided into liquid epoxy resin and solid epoxy resin. This is very important in actual use. Liquid resins can be used as castables, solventless adhesives and coatings. Solid resins can be used in powder coatings and solid-state molding materials. The solid-state epoxy resin mentioned here is not achievable. The b-stage epoxy resin curing system is not a C-stage epoxy resin cured product (cured resin), but a simple ring with a relatively large molecular mass. Oxygen resin is a thermoplastic solid oligomer.
