New HDPE for caps and hoses

A new type of injection-molded HDPE combines outstanding environmental stress crack resistance (ESCR) performance with fast cycle times as required by beverage bottle caps and hose manufacturers. The Hostalen GX4027 is manufactured by basell Polyolefins. Beverage caps are required to withstand extreme weather conditions, long shelf life, high carbonation, and hoses must withstand extreme stress during use. Converters require faster cycle times with minimal ESCR losses. Industrial testing of this HDPE has shown that it is very prominent in saving cycle time, and also reduces the melting temperature by 40 °C, which has no detrimental effect on mold filling. An independent sensory test showed that the material showed the good sensory requirements of the beverage application.
