Natural resin synthetic resin differs greatly

Natural resins and synthetic resins are far apart, but it's not to say synthetics are useless. They are widely used by people in different fields and they are indispensable in life!

The natural resin is mainly derived from the amorphous semi-solid or solid organic matter that is infiltrated by plants. Features are soft when heated, meltable, tend to flow under stress, generally insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, ketones and other organic solvents. The basic components of the resin can be divided into three major categories: 1 pure resin, that is, a resinous material composed of terpenoids and crude essential oils. It is generally insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as rosin. 2 With gum resin or gum resin, it is composed of polysaccharides, soluble in water or swelled with water, but not soluble in alcohols and organic solvents such as frankincense. 3 oleoresin or colloidal, refers to the resin that contains more essential oils and is soluble in oil. According to the history of the formation of the resin can be divided into fossil resin, semi-fossil resin and fresh resin. The latter is the most important source of natural resins. Some of the natural resins are named after the port names that were first shipped and exported, such as Ma resin and Coba resin.

Synthetic resin is a high molecular weight solid, semi-solid, or quasi-solid organic material with a limited molecular weight. It tends to flow when stressed, and softens or has a melting range when exposed to heat, and is conchoidal when broken. It is a kind of resin made of monomers by polymerization or polycondensation. There are many types, some of them can be dissolved in water or organic solvents, some soften after heating, and some become insoluble and infusible after heating. Excellent performance, often have unique physical, chemical and electrical properties, widely used in the manufacture of plastics, synthetic fibers, coatings, adhesives, insulation materials. Its importance and development are far more than natural resins.
